4AWOMAN project was launched in 2010, by Akbaraly Foundation to battle breast and gynecological cancer disease that affects thousands of women in Madagascar, and millions in the continent, and improve maternal and child health. This is a first project of oncology at a national level across Sub-Saharan Africa, endorsed by the Malagasy Government.

Signature of a Partnership Agreement between Akbaraly Foundation and the University Hospital of Fianarantsoa

Akbaraly Foundation and the University Hospital (CHU) of Fianarantsoa signed a public-private partnership agreementon Saturday, May 5th 2012. This 4-year length agreement deals with the implementation of 4AWOMAN project against gynecological and breast cancer, in Haute-Matsiatra region where the pilot-project of the Foundation is developing.

Discussion with Doctor Sabotsy

Akbaraly Foundation is happy to welcome back Dr Sabotsy in Madagascar.

Doctor Sabotsy has just come back from one-year training in radiotherapy at the Istituto Europeo di Oncologia in Milan, Italy. He benefited from a 25,000 Euros grant from IEO, as part of the partnership that this prestigious oncology institution established with Akbaraly Foundation.
During his stay, Doctor Sabotsy was able to study radiotherapy with “state-of-the-art technology” and could notice the “backwardness of Madagascar” in that field. He familiarized with the utilization of linear accelerator apparels, a technology recommended and used in most developed countries that Akbaraly Foundation plans to introduce within the next years, as part as its project 4AWOMAN.
